I often speak about vision, appreciation and gratitude and how I incorporate them in my personal and business life
Now we’re in December (where has this year gone?!) I find myself reflecting back on 2019. I feel blessed to realise this year has been nothing short of amazing! I can honestly say, with 100% appreciation in my heart, that I’m truly grateful for everyone and everything in my life.
Where will you be in 6-months’ time?
A few weeks ago, I read a blog from someone who wrote, “Where will you be in 6-months’ time?” and it got me thinking. As much as I love to plan and have a vision for my life and business (and I know where I want to be because of regular vision board work I do) I can honestly say I don’t know exactly where I will be – none of us do!
While the path ahead for the next 6-months might not be crystal clear, taking some time to reflect back on what has already been is powerful and helps us to see just how far we’ve come. It also gives us an experiential idea of what we’d love more of. Personally, I love the nostalgia and excitement of these reflections and feel deeply blessed for the gift that is my life and business.
I am grateful for…
This year I’m especially grateful for my husband, not only for being an amazing partner, but also someone who helps me in my business with my website, the Money Quiz and more. I’m also grateful for both my wonderful children, who are living their ‘Ikigai’ so that I can live mine and do what makes me happy.
I’m also appreciate the amazing women I’ve worked with and am grateful for each and every one of them (you know who you are!). Most, if not all, have become friends and are very dear to my heart. I love to hear their news on how their businesses are growing, the money breakthroughs they’re having and how they are continuously changing and improving their money relationship.
I tell these wonderful ladies all the time that if any of them ever want to jump on a call to check-in or get advice, I’m always available…and I mean that. One of the core values in my business is to keep supporting and adding value to my clients, and I focus on strengthening this value year on year.
Now to 2020 – what’s your vision?
Just writing the numbers 2020 fills me with excitement and anticipation. It has such a perfect ring to it!
Once I’ve given time to my reflections and learnings from the current year, I turn my attention to setting creating a vision and setting my goals for the year ahead so I’m ready to hit the ground running as soon as 1st January arrives.
If you’ve never taken the time to set goals (or perhaps you’re looking to freshen up this process for yourself), here are some suggestions – and of course feel free to add your own, the more personal you make this the better.
Your life at a glance
What areas of your life do you need to focus on?
Begin by writing down the ten different life sections as follows:
- Money/Finances/Career
- Health and fitness
- Self-care, mindset and personal development
- Family and significant others
- Friends
- Home
- Creative projects
- Charity/Giveback
- Spiritually
- Vacations
In order for your life to feel harmonious and balanced, it’s important each of these sections is given attention (some may need more focus than others to get the balance right between them). Keep in mind this isn’t necessarily about adding things to each section. Sometimes the most beneficial action is actually taking something away.
I was listening to a video today from Marie Forleo about just this thing. In it she talked about the importance of getting all your goals out of your head and written down first. Then she talked about cutting back.
So, let me ask you – do you have too much going on? Do you feel focussed or scattered in your life? Are you experiencing money stress?
In each life section listed above, highlight your most important goals and then prioritise them and decide if action needs to be taken now or later (in 6-months’ time or more).
The power of questions and coaching
Now your goals are written down and prioritised, next it’s time for a little self-coaching. Ask yourself…
- What will get me results now?
- What is the pay-off mentality and financially?
- How will this benefit others?
- And the best one of all…Who will I have to become to make this goal happen?
Any projects or experiences in life that require us to grow will always be more rewarding in the long-term than those that don’t stretch or challenge us.
