As humans, we are walking, talking creativity creatures. Our moment by moment experience of life is constantly being created via the power of our thoughts.
Thought, and subconscious thought in particular, is an endlessly fascinating subject for me. It’s incredible how it shapes our individual realities and drives all of our choices and actions.
Every time I catch a glimpse of this invisible driving force in my life, I have an insight that allows me to let go of another layer of conditioned thinking. My recent experience in IKEA with ‘The Pink Chair’ was such a perfect real-time example of this. In a split second I caught site of my scarcity mindset in thinking about the chair. Because I’ve done a lot of work on my subconscious thought, I could see the fears for what they were and released them because they no longer have a hold on me.
In Gabby Bernstein’s book ‘Super Attractor’, she talks about choosing thoughts. Her three-step process if you make a mistake or take action on a negative thought, is to:
- Acknowledge the mistake or thought
- Forgive yourself, as we are our own worst judge
- Choose again
It’s so beautifully simple and freeing to know that we can simply choose again.
Bob Baker also has an interesting perspective on choosing thoughts. He discusses how you can detach yourself from negative subconscious thinking and instead become the observer and monitor of it. From this observer position you realise that you have a choice to think different thoughts.
Our thoughts are so powerful, and influence our actions and the results we get in our lives and businesses. Bob suggests that you treat your negative thoughts as if they were a candidate coming for a job interview. As the CEO you have to choose the best candidate for the job – would you hire such a negative thinking candidate?
I bet the answer is NO!
Get conscious about your subconscious thoughts
What I really want to highlight to you is that you’re not at the mercy of your subconscious thinking. You can make the choice right now to get curious and question some of the 60-70,000 thoughts that flow through your mind every day.
How many thoughts that are holding you back and keeping you small are you clinging onto? Are you ready to flip them on their head and turn them into thoughts and actions that raise you up and empower you instead?

- Am productive and get things done
- Plan my daily and weekly schedule and am super productive
- Look at what was successful and repeat the process
- Ask myself, “Are my words aligned with my actions?”
- Listen out for self-sabotaging thoughts and squash them
- Set intentions that will make a difference in my life and business
- Wonder who I can collaborate with that will help me?
- Find like-minded people for mutual support
- Focus on productivity and look at what is stealing my time
- Keep my mind free from clutter so I can be productive
